Once the home of Alfred Lord Tennyson, the Farringford is now a beautifully appointed hotel. It was the view from the drawing room which Tennyson fell in love with and which persuaded him to make Farringford his home.

Set in 33 acres of parkland and gardens, it offers a quiet and restful holiday away from the stresses of present day life. It is ideally situated for walking holidays, adjoining about 100 acres of national trust downland. The hotel is the only one on the Island with a 9-hole Par 3 private golf course. Play is free for hotel residents. An outdoor solar heated swimming pool, tennis court, croquet, bowling and putting greens and children's play area are further features of our peaceful and attractive gardens.

In the elegant restaurant the cuisine is of the highest standard, offering table d'hote and a la carte menus, both complimented by an extensive wine list. Full use is made of the first class fish caught locally, Island grown vegetables and fresh farm produce.
A wide variety of snacks is available in the Restaurant bar area. Residents in the optional-catering Garden Suites and Cottages may enjoy this superb catering, for which Farringford is renowned.
Leading from the Cocktail Bar are three comfortable lounges including the Tennyson Drawing Room with a terrace commanding magnificent views over the golf course and Afton Downs. For the studious there is a library with mementos of the famous poet.
The hotel accommodation is in attractive rooms, each with private bathroom, radio, television, and direct dial telephone which incorporates a baby listening device.
