Alum Bay

Alum Bay, Isle of WightSituated north of the Islands famous landmark, the Needles lighthouse, Alum Bay is a beach with magnificent views and spectacular coloured sands on the cliffs. Ideal for a family funday out visitors can either ride a chairlift or take the steps down to this beach which has large rounded pebbles. There is plenty to see and do as this area is also home to the Needles Pleasure Park with rides, entertainment and amusements for children of all ages. The park and beach has parking, taxis and is also on a Southern Vectis bus route. Coaches are welcome. Open top bus rides which take visitors around the Island run from here and a coastal footpath takes walkers to the Needles Battery.

Aside from the striking features this beach has full facilities with toilets, phones, and ice-cream shops. There is also a restaurant with a licensed bar located inside the park and a pitch and put area for all to enjoy. The beach is also home to the Islands famous studio glassworks where visitors can watch the interesting art of glassblowing in action. Glassware and jewellery are sold in craft and gift shops within the park and a sand shop allows visitors to fill their own souvenir with genuine multicoloured Alum Bay sands.

There is no admission charge to the pleasure park, visitors pay for parking and the chargeable attractions of their choice.
